The First Deputy Prime Minister, Rebecca Kadaga, has initiated a fundraising campaign for the upcoming royal wedding of Kyabazinga Gabula Nadiope and HRH Jovia Mutesi. In a traditional ceremony held earlier this month, Gabula was introduced to Mutesi's parents in Mayuge district, signifying the union of two royal families.

The couple has also agreed to a church wedding scheduled for November 18th, 2023, where Mutesi will be officially crowned as Busoga's queen, with the formal title of 'Inhebantu', meaning 'mother' for all, as is customary for queens in the Busoga Kingdom.

To oversee the organization of the royal wedding, Kadaga has appointed a 23-member committee, led by Engineer Patrick Batumbya.

The committee comprises of esteemed individuals such as the Presidential Affairs Minister, Milly Babalanda, who will serve as the local government mobilizer, General Duties Minister Justine Lumumba, who will head the media team, KCCA Director Dorothy Kisaka, responsible for special assignments, Chairman of the Uganda Moslem Supreme Council, Dr. Mohammed Lubega, as the general coordinator, and David Batema, the Resident Judge of Iganga High Court.

Kadaga acknowledged the receipt of 304 million Shillings, which was collected from the members of the organizing committee, as a significant step forward in the fundraising efforts for the royal wedding.

Furthermore, she unveiled the centenary bank account, along with the Airtel money and MTN mobile money merchant codes, all registered under the name "The Kyabazinga of Busoga." This will provide a convenient platform for well-wishers from Busoga sub-region and around the world to make their monetary contributions.

However, she emphasized the importance of conducting thorough background checks on individuals targeted for fundraising, in order to prevent any actions that may undermine the King and the entire royalty after the wedding. "You must exercise caution when soliciting funds from individuals, as some may be inclined to boast about their contributions towards the Kyabazinga's marriage, which would be demeaning to the entire Kingdom," she cautioned.
