Africa’s football governing, the Confederation of African Football Associations (CAF) has decided to postpone the Total 2020 African Nations Championship that was scheduled to take place from Sat. April 4th, 2020 to Sat, 25th April, 2020 in Cameroon.
The decision was reached up on by CAF due to the need to avert the Corona Virus calamity that has affected and claimed lives in most parts in Africa. The biennial tournament is the sixth edition of its kind that only allows players playing in the home league to participate.
CAF acting General Secretary Abdel Bah confirmed the calling off of the tourney with at letter to all nations that are meant to participate, part of it read;
Following the growing concern of the COVID-19 virus and the report of the recently concluded Medical Inspection visit to the history country of the Total CHAN, Cameroon 2020 CAF Emergency Committee decided today to postpone the competition until further notice.
Travelling across the continent is growing increasingly complicated and even impossible for some countries, due to the restrictions put in place by the different governments.
Caf will propose a new date for the tournament and at Blizz Uganda we’ll keep you posted. Uganda was drawn along with Rwanda, Togo and Morocco in group c.
