Vipers Home Ground St. Mary's Stadium Approved to Host FIFA World Cup Qualifiers

The football governing body of Africa, "The Confederation of African Football" has passed the home Ground for Vipers SC fit to host World Cup Qualifiers matches.

Speculatioyhad taken center stage on where The Uganda Cranes will host their home matches ahead of the world cup qualiers after the national Stadium, Namboole was turned into a COVID-19 treatment center.

State minister for Sports Hanson Obua had proposed that home matches be hosted at the neighbouring countries after St. Mary's was before deemed unfit to host FIFA matches for failure to have floodlights, but after they were fixed, the stadium was passed legible.

It is another success for Vipers SC after their 25000 seats stadium was also used by the Uganda Cranes in the AFCON 2021 qualifiers though the qualification process ended in a fiasco.

A peculiar draw held in Cairo in January, drew Uganda, Mali, Rwanda and Kenya in the same group,E and Uganda will start it's bid for a world cup appearance for the first time in history in June with a trip to Nairobi for an encounter against Kenya (between 5th-8th June) before hosting Mali in Kampala between 11th and 14th the same month.

In September, Uganda will play away to Rwanda between 1st and 4th with a return leg taking place in a two weeks time before taking on Mali.

The winners of the ten groups will make five fixtures of which the aggregate winners will progress to the final World Cup tournament in Qatar.
