Eng Moses Magogo who also doubles as the MP for Budyope East in Buyende district was once again voted for as the FUFA President for the third term running from 2021 to 2025.
Magogo was first elected in 2013 and served to 2017 before he was voted for a second term and here he goes for another four years of leading Uganda's football. This means Magogo becomes the longest serving FUFA president beating the likes of Kabaka Chwa the first FUFA President and Honorary FUFA President Dr Lawrence Mulindwa who he succeeded.
Upon being voted for, Magogo said...
“Thank you yet again for another opportunity. It is an emotional moment knowing how far we have come. The next four years will definitely be about consolidating what we have achieved so far and igniting the next gear.” he noted.
During his Stewardship, Uganda Cranes qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) held in Gabon in 2017, the first time in 39 years. The country also qualified for the next continental cup (AFCON) in 2019.
Women football league has been introduced, Women Elite and Super League, with Uganda winning the U-17 CECAFA tournament and the COSAFA tournament where they were invited guests, the team would have participated in the world cup tournament in India but due to COVID-19 pandemic, it was postponed.
The Uganda U-20 team also participated in AFCON tournament in Mauritania and finished second behind winners Ghana to whom they lost 2:0.
Magogo has developed the budget for Uganda's football from 4bUgx yearly to 40bUgx yearly and the staff that was less than 10 at the FUFA House by then now stands at more than 50 which has eased work.
He has also improved the FUFA premises' looks, building more other buildings, established a sports Radio, FUFA FM 102.1, the first football radio in Africa through which the body's programs are aired and teaching people about football, to mention but a few.
He was also Moses Magogo who became the first Confederation of African Football (CAF) Executive Committee member and all that has helped him to lob for the country.
Magogo's achievements are undisputed though he's being accused of locking behind other candidates not to compete with him for the presidential seat and earlier this year, he was at loggerhead with former Cranes player Sulaiman Mutyaba who accused him of swindling players' money.
Magogo has also been criticized of arrogance, he once referred to Uganda Cranes' football played in the last CHAN tournament as "shitty football," a comment the likes of Denis Onyango (former Cranes captain) Hassan Mawanda Wasswa and others said was a disrespectful one and hence retired from international football before they wished.
Magogo is now poised to helping Uganda qualify for the first ever World Cup for the country, and has also set a Hattrick (3) of goals that includes creating a professional football industry, Extending the game of football to each homestead and Achieving world class sporting excellence.
