Miss Uganda Foundation and Yellow Card Uganda today came out and teamed together to give back to a charity outreach in Mengo-Kisenyi in Kampala.

Yellow Card Uganda is an American Financial Technology (FinTech) startup that focuses on building a new financial infrastructure for the African continent.

It’s quite challenging, promoting charity to a predominantly city-centric society and encouraging the young ones to take it up as a career is like trying to convert Collingwood fans to rugby league.

In a bid to revive flagging interest in the Miss Uganda beauty quest, Miss Uganda Foundation has promoted tourism, charity work and agriculture in the contest.

Miss Uganda Foundation is an umbrella movement of talented young ladies member-based like-minded organizations driven to end violence against women and girls in Kampala. This cluster is led by Pascal, the Executive Director MYDEL.

Believe it or not, most teenage pregnancy is a total fear for most young teenage girls in the country and Worldwide. But as Miss Uganda foundation, they realized that comforting these young mothers in a way of advising and being there for them will at least give a good breath towards their future aspects. The kind of advice given to the required teaching their skilled labor, making themselves busy to eliminate negative thinking in their minds.

The beneficiaries who are teen mothers under Mengo Youth Development Link(MYDEL) received food assistance, baby care products, and personal care products.

"The COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns have hit hard on these teen mothers and 80% of them got pregnant in lockdown and others have dropped out of school. Many of them cannot afford a decent meal as well as taking care of the babies," said Pascal, Executive Director MYDEL.
Eric, the Customer Relations Manager, Yellow Card Uganda, trained the young mothers on how to manage resources and the importance of having a savings culture even in the toughest of times.

Miss Uganda's 1st Runner's Up, Mariam Nyamate, appreciated the role Yellow Card plays in financial literacy and opportunities in Africa. She also encouraged the young mothers who still have an opportunity to go back to school and increase their chances of earning and living better.
