City socialite and once self proclaimed money bag, Charles Olimu aka Sipapa and his wife, Shamira Rukia Nakiyemba have hired another lawyer to defend them after the other one fleeing, they have been sent back to Luzira till 10th November.
According to our sources, we have been alerted that Sipapa has hired a new lawyer identified as Geoffrey Turyamusiima, and today requested Makindye Chief Magistrates Court grade one magistrate Patience Lorna Tukundane to compel prosecution to speed up investigations.
The move comes after defence lawyers, led by Robert Rutaro Muhairwe abandoned them (the couple) over failure to pay legal fees.
The lawyer, who got instructions to represent the couple last week, also told the court that he intends to file an application in court challenging infringement of the couple’s rights and nullity of the charges levelled against them.
Sipapa, who describes himself as a businessman dealing in gold, cars and promoter of music, is accused of robbing a South Sudanese national of sh1.6b. He is a resident of Kityo Close in Buwate village, Najjera in Kira municipality, Wakiso district.
