Moses Matovu Pays Tribute to the Late Afro-Jazz Legend Manu Dibango

Ugandan musician and saxophonist Moses Matovu has paid tribute to his fallen comrade and brother in the entertainment industry, Cameroonian Afro-jazz legend Manu Dibango who passed on Tuesday morning 24th after succumbing to coronavirus.

The 86-year-old Cameroonian, best known for the 1972 hit 'Soul Makossa' died in Paris, according to a representative.

The deceased is popularly known as one of the pioneers of Afro-jazz and also fused funk with traditional Cameroonian music.

Manu Dibango died after contracting the new coronavirus, his representatives and official Facebook page have announced.

"He died early this morning in a hospital in the Paris region," his music publisher Thierry Durepaire said.

The CEO Afrigo Band who also got a chance performing on the same stage with the late Dibango through his Facebook official account has paid an emotional tribute to a big brother and an inspiration in music thereby advising fellow Ugandans to adhere to the directives of the Ministry of Health as far as the current pandemic is concerned.
