Reigning Uganda Premier League Champions, Vipers SC's towering defender Rashid "Mertesacker" has signalled happiness towards the speedy recovery process he's undergoing at the Entebbe based side.
The former Onduparaka FC player Rashid Toha who joined the Venom on July 2019, got injured in a 2-2 stalemate with the Ankle lions of Mbarara City at the St Mary’s Stadium-Kitende in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League' first round on 14th September, 2019.
It was a fateful moment for the former Onduparaka captain who had only been unveiled at the club two months ago having signed for the Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa owned side on 12th July, 2019.
Speaking to the club's website, Toha had this to say about the recovery process:
“I was really scared, I thought I would be out for several months. Tests and scans were done to determine the extent of my injury. However, the doctor said I had to undergo minor surgery to repair my nagging knee injury and I duly accepted. Thank God!!! The surgery was minor. Imagine it happened in February and four months down the road, I am feeling much better and stronger,” Toha explained.
Despite the trying moment which he (Toha) describes as the most difficult he has ever endured, the defender is much optimistic he'll come back with more vigre and ambitions.
Here he added; "My ambitions have not died. For starters, I want to fight for my place in Vipers Starting XI. And now that we will be playing on the continent, I want to be in the thick of things as we push for our dream in the Caf Champions League. It is going to be a dream-come-true season for us,” Toha asserted.
Founded in 1969 as Bunamwaya FC, Vipers won it's fourth Uganda Premier League title in the just prematurely ended 2019/20 season having also won in 2009/2010, 2013/2014 and 2017/2018 seasons.
