The Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) is an international body that governs football worldwide. It was initially formed to govern international soccer tournaments among Belgium, Germany, France, Denmark, Netherlands, Sweden, and Spain. It has members from six confederations. Fatma Samoura She is a former senior executive and diplomat for Senegal. She started her career in 1995 with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP). Fatuma worked as WFP's country director in Cameroon and Djibouti. John Holmes and Ban Ki-Moon appointed Fatma as the United Nations Deputy Humanitarian Coordinator (DHC) in Chad.
Gianni Infantino, FIFA President appointed Fatma as the Secretary General of FIFA on May 13, 2016. She is the first woman to hold that position in history. The former Senegalese diplomat ranked first in Forbes' list of the Most Powerful Women in International Sports in 2018. Samoura replaced Markus Kattner in overseeing the operational and commercial activities of FIFA.
Fatma Samoura arrived in Uganda on January 27, 2020, for a two days visit. She is the first FIFA Secretary General to travel to the landlocked country. The sports official announced her arrival on her Twitter account.
Justus Mugisha, Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) Vice President, Edgar Watson, FUFA'S CEO and Ahmed Hussein, FUFA'S Communication Director welcomed Fatma at Entebbe International Airport. Sports fans who take part in Betway can wager on the Ghana Premier League.
She spoke with Rebecca Kadaga, the speaker of Uganda's parliament, football sponsors and Denis HamsonObua, the minister of sports. Fatma will visit different projects that FIFA funds in the country. She will open the newly completed FUFA offices in Mengo and inspect FIFA Forward Programme's projects.
The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) announced on its website that it was glad to receive FIFA's Secretary General in Uganda. It started that Fatma's visit shows that FIFA highly values Uganda's growth and development in football. The federation focuses on eight areas including infrastructure development. Ahmed Hussein said that Fatma will inspect FIFA Forward Programme projects in Uganda. The FIFA official will tour the FUFA Technical Centre and the FUFA Kadiba project.

Fatma is FIFA's second senior official to visit Uganda since President Gianni Infantino' s tour on May 13, 2016. She strongly advocates for African football and women’s leadership. The Senegalese official will leave on Tuesday, January 28.
FIFA comprises of 211 national football associations from countries in Asia, Africa, South America, Oceania, Central & North America, and the Caribbean. It organizes the World Cup tournament.
