After the FUFA president won the NRM primaries in Budiope East, here at Blizz Uganda we look at some of the other sportsmen and women to storm the Parliament of Uganda.
Moses Magogo, the president of the Uganda football governing body- FUFA was triumphant in the NRM national primaries held on 4th September, 2020 to be the flag bearer of NRM in the constituency.
Magogo won his compatriots Takozekibi David Geoffrey, Kirunda Sulaiman,Kalwaza Mustapha and Geoffrey Dhamuzungu.
He won with 59,951 votes equivalent to 79.6% compared to his closest rival Geoffrey Dhamuzungu who collected 13,756 votes. His victory means he will compete for the parliamentary seat with National Unity Platform's Moses Bigirwa and Dr Aggrey Ngoobi.
The other sportsmen in the upcoming elections in 2021 include include Mike Mutyaba KCCA player (Councillor LCV Mutundwe), Sarah Adongo- former SC Villa PRO (MP to be Zombo), Ddumba Sulaiman (Sports Presnter Top Radio) -Mayor to be Kyengera Town Council and Busiro Saza team manager Paul Nsubuga is hoping for an MP seat in the area.
If he wins, Magogo will join the list of other sports personalities in the parliament like Hanson Obua (Ajuri County, Alebtong District)
Allan Ssewanyana (MP Makindye West), Mwine Mpaka director of Mbarara City FC (Youth MP Western Uganda), Patrick Nsiagi of Kachumbala County-Bukedia (once a FUFA treasurer), Anite Among Woman MP Bukedea District (Took Dennis Onyango and Emma Okwi to play FUFA the drum tournament), Onduparaka FC patron Atiku Bernard who recently joined NRM party but lost in the primaries, is MP of Arua constituency plus former SC Victoria University owner and current Kampla central MP Hon. Mohammed Nsereko are all sports addicts who have stormed the Parliament of Uganda. The list is endless.
