The president of the Uganda Boxing Federation Moses Muhangi has vowed not eat and drink in a bid to pressurize his boxers to work hard and qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The President who is bushy, not cutting his hair, finger nails and has stopped taking any other healthy measures of himself says he will not eat or drink anymore until he comes back to Kampala or else his players should qualify for the Tokyo 2020 olympics in Japan.
He says they have invested all it takes; time, cash and training for his team to qualify and if they don’t, he will be much embarrassed and thus opted for a hunger strike.
Shadir Musa, Ssemuju, Masembe, Nanziri are the four boxers left and the fight on Saturday will define whether Uganda will have a boxer in the Tokyo Olympics or else the team returns to Uganda and Muhangi eats food.
The team is in the qualifiers in Dakar Senegal and there has been an average performance by Uganda boxers with worry that the country may miss out on a slot in the 2020 Olympics.
